Actuated droplet formation in microfluidic devices: droplets cannot be detached at the frequency of actuation. Therefore, alternating tugging on the meniscus and ripping off of droplets are observed. Actuated droplet formation may be interesting for additional control over the droplet size and for the synchronization of droplet formation.
