This movie shows a microfluidic device with an aburpt height change. On the left hand side, the height is ~30 microns, and on the right hand side the height is ~60 microns. The microfluidic devices is made from PDMS using soft lithography techniques, and is 70 microns wide. The continuous phase is silicone oil, and the dispersed phase is a fluorocarbon oil. As the height increases the stable jet becomes unstable and breaks up.
