What we are about

The complexity of the body requires that we simultaneously observe multiple processes in order to understand function at the systemic level. As technology allows us to observe more and more of the underlying biological processes, techniques must be developed to analyze and model these multivariate nonlinear systems within a stochastic framework. Our research focuses on characterizing the stochastic nature of biological systems, developing techniques for analysis of multi-channel biological signals, and modeling the non-linear properties of these systems in order to gain further insight on the function. We are also interested in developing biological sensors that will allow us to observe systems on a larger scale than current techniques allow, while maintaining highly specific/precise measurements.

The head of HBCL is Garrett Stanley.
