UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES
Our goal is to create "renaissance engineers" or students who excel in applied science, but also have a broad knowledge of other disciplines. Students in engineering and applied sciences are part of a liberal arts environment, interacting with classmates from completely different concentrations in their dorms, Houses, dining halls, and clubs.
In keeping with our emphasis on broad-minded learning we’ve designed programs and courses that cater to students at multiple levels.
We offer an A.B. degree option as well as an S.B. that requires about four more additional technical courses than the A.B. The S.B. program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012-telephone: (410) 347-7700.
Harvard students from all areas may also pursue Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science as secondary fields.
Concentrations and Secondary Fields
Applied Mathematics (A.B.; A.B./S.M.)Flexible programs allow you to specialize in areas of application such as biological sciences, economics, engineering, computer science, among others.
Secondary field option: Mathematical Sciences
Computer Science (A.B.; A.B./S.M.)Participate in research on software, graphics, artificial intelligence, networks, parallel and distributed systems, algorithms, and theory.
Secondary field option: Computer Science
Engineering Sciences (A.B.; A.B./S.M.; S.B.)Pursue work on a variety of topics, with tracks in five distinct areas:
- Biomedical Sciences and Engineering
- Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
- Engineering Physics (A.B. only)
- Environmental Sciences and Engineering
- Mechanical and Materials Sciences and Engineering
